Which kind of galaxies contribute to the steep faint end?
Compare galaxies with or without emission lines (based on [OII]3727 E.W. larger or smaller than 10 A)
Faint-end objects are compact and irregular: late types
Early 2dF luminosity function for all types shows hint for same upturn, although does not reach yet such faint magnitudes (Colless, this meeting).
